Innovative UX/UI Design for Legrand's Smart Electrical Accessories Promotion
Legrand, a global leader in electrical and digital building infrastructures, sought to promote its Arteor smart electrical accessories range in India. Arteor is a modular product line designed to support a variety of applications and project scales, from commercial buildings to home installations. The challenge was to create a digital experience that appealed both to B2B decision-makers (e.g., architects, contractors, and project managers) as well as individual consumers looking to upgrade their homes with smart solutions.
Role
As the UX/UI Designer on a cross-functional team at a digital ad agency, I contributed to the successful promotion of Legrand's Arteor smart electrical accessories in India. By combining innovative interface design with deep knowledge of social media and online advertising, I helped create an interactive digital kiosk and website that catered to both B2B and B2C audiences. My contributions focused on designing a user-centric experience that communicated the complex product features in a visually engaging and intuitive way, while collaborating closely with the brand agency and ideation teams.
Users
Legrand needed to communicate the wide-ranging applications and benefits of their smart electrical accessories to two distinct user groups
- B2B Decision-Makers: Commercial users looking for robust, scalable, and modular solutions.
- B2C Users: Individual consumers interested in smart, sleek, and user-friendly products for their homes.
The core challenges
- Effectively explaining the complex capabilities and use cases of the Arteor product range.
- Utilizing interactive mediums to explain product features in a way that was engaging and informative.
- Providing a virtual experience that mimicked real-world usage for users, both in kiosks and online.
Solutions
Interactive Kiosk Design
I designed a presentation kiosk that provided an immersive experience for users to explore Legrand's smart product range. The kiosk featured an intuitive touch interface that allowed users to
- Interact with each product to explore its features and applications.
- Visualize real-world use cases through 3D models and animated demonstrations.
- Understand how Arteor products integrate with third-party technologies, which was critical for large-scale projects.
- For decision-makers, the tool helped weigh the benefits of different Arteor products depending on the scale and requirements of their projects.
Website Design
The campaign website complemented the companies product website and was aimed at both B2B and B2C audiences. The goal was to create an engaging online experience that made smart electrical accessories approachable for individual users while still providing the technical depth needed by B2B decision-makers. Key features included:
- Product Tours: Users could take a virtual tour of the products, exploring their functionalities and how they could be implemented in both residential and commercial spaces.
- Interactive Demos: The website featured interactive demos that allowed users to simulate using the smart accessories, giving them a sense of how they would perform in real-world settings.
Challenges Faced
Explaining Product Features: The modular nature of Arteor's smart accessories made it difficult to communicate their versatility across use cases. To address this, we created interactive demos that showcased how the products could be used in commercial and residential environments.
Creating an Interactive Medium: Designing a digital experience that was both engaging and informative required striking the right balance between technical detail and user-friendliness. For the kiosk, I designed a visually rich, interactive display that was intuitive to use while highlighting the products' capabilities.
Simulating Product Usage Online: We used 3D models and animations to replicate the physical interaction with the products, allowing users to virtually experience how they worked, making the technology feel tangible even in a digital environment.
Metrics and Results
The ad campaign and interactive experiences resulted in significant engagement, demonstrating the success of the digital strategy:
- Total Unique Visits: 122,000+ users explored the website.
- Total Page-Views: The website received over 1.3 million page views, showcasing the depth of engagement.
- Completed Product Tours: 52,000+ users completed a full virtual tour of the product lineup.
- Banner Ad Campaign: The display banner ad campaign achieved an impressive CTR of 1.92%, far surpassing the industry standard of 0.2%.
These numbers reflect the success of the project in promoting Legrand's smart accessories, with users actively engaging with both the kiosk and website content.
Learnings
This project was a unique blend of digital product promotion and immersive user experience. Through interactive kiosks and an engaging website, we successfully showcased Legrand's smart electrical accessories to both B2B and B2C users, demonstrating the product's versatility, functionality, and scalability. The high engagement metrics underscored the effectiveness of the digital strategy and design execution.
- Designing for Diverse User Groups: I learned the importance of tailoring digital experiences for both commercial and individual users, ensuring the interface catered to their specific needs while maintaining consistency in messaging.
- Touch Interfaces: Designing the kiosk interface allowed me to explore the intricacies of touch-based UI design, with a focus on clarity and ease of use, given the high volume of information users needed to absorb.
- Blending UI Design with Advertising: The project taught me how to balance aesthetic design with promotional objectives, ensuring the user interface was not only visually appealing but also drove product engagement and sales.
